Blue Ribbon Winner by Dennis Kunkle

Congratulations Lancaster County Wood Carvers, recipients of the First Annual Bill Thompson, Sr. Memorial Award for Community Participation! This club exemplifies the spirit of woodworking, sowing seeds for future generations by teaching woodcarving to all. At every WoodWorks Show, one club is honored for demonstrating the most community spirit. Bill passed last spring. His wife, Mickey, sons, Bill, Jr., James and Woodline partner Wayne, continue to offer quality tools at the shows.

Blue Ribbon winner by Mike Galloway.

Part of the fun with woodworking is sharing the knowledge, passing it on to future woodworkers. It’s also about giving back to the community, charity fundraising, building toys and furniture for those who are less fortunate. Kay Pomroy, founded the Reaching Down Project after she heard about the struggles of several families unable to provide beds for their children. Kay believes in empowerment; she teaches woodworking so that others will learn a useful skill to earn a living.

Kay and Roxanne teach a promising woodworker!

Asheville Hardware, sponsor of the SawDust Café Instant Gallery, invites all woodworkers to participate in this exciting local competition. As a provider of high quality tools and service, we know how much fun working with wood is, but we're here to tell you, nothing beats having YOUR work on display!
