Community Square Bulletin Board
Congratulations Blue Water Area Woodturners, recipients of the First Annual Bill Thompson, Sr. Memorial Award for Community Participation! This club exemplifies the spirit of woodworking, sowing seeds for future generations by teaching woodturning to all. At every WoodWorks Show, one club is honored for demonstrating the most community spirit. Bill passed last spring. His wife, Mickey, sons, Bill, Jr., James and Woodline partner Wayne, continue to offer quality tools at the shows.

This first place winner in 2008, 18th Century Federal Card Table by Ed Stuckey, active member of the Michigan Woodworkers' Guild, is a piece that is even more awe-inspiring in person. Ed uses solid Mahogany with veneers of Mahogany Crotch, Curly Mahogany, Satinwood Crotch, Brazilian Rosewood, Ebony, Curly Maple, Walnut, and Holly. “This table is a marriage of New York and Baltimore styles of the late 18th century (about 1790-1800)."
